Supporting every child to achieve their very best

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Our SENDCo is Mrs Georgina Faux. She works alongside the teaching team to ensure that high quality teaching and opportunities are available for all children at Fetcham Village Infant School.

Working with children, parents and carers, outside agencies, teachers and teaching staff, we all work very hard to ensure that every child is supported to achieve their very best.

To discuss any concerns you may have about your child, please contact Mrs Faux who will be happy to support you.

Please use our pages to find out a little more about how we support children at Fetcham Village Infant School. We hope you have found our pages useful. However, if you would like more help with any of the areas below, please click on the link.

Pupil Premium

Since April 2011, schools have received Pupil Premium funding for pupils from low-income families, for pupils who are in care, for example fostered, and pupils of armed service personnel. This also includes pupils eligible at any point in the last six years, known as the Ever 6 FSM Measure.

In order to trigger this re-directed funding for school, parents need to advise school if they are in receipt of:

  • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

The school does not automatically know that your child is eligible, so it is important that you inform school if any of the above applies to you. Please download and fill in the attached application form, or pick one up from the school office. Our office team will be more than happy to help you.

It is the Headteacher's responsibility to allocate these funds. However, whenever funds are specifically directed, we have to identify how this has supported the pupil to make expected or better than expected progress and academic achievement. For children who are Looked After or Previously Looked After, the ‘Pupil Premium Plus’ is allocated directly to Surrey's Virtual School. At Fetcham Village Infant School we direct this funding in three areas:

Attainment and progress

Attendance

Care, guidance and support

Pupil Premium Funding may be used to support children's academic progress and may also be used towards the payment of school trips, and after school clubs. Attending clubs can support children in their social and emotional development, helping them to become more confident and to make progress in line with their peers. We ask parents in return to support their child by ensuring they are punctual and attend school regularly, homework activities are completed on time and reading is practised regularly.

We are held accountable for this funding, and are required to publish information about how we have used Pupil Premium and how we intend to use it. Please see our attached Pupil Premium Strategy which details this spending allocation.

We recognise that not all pupils who are eligible for this funding will be socially disadvantaged.

We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for pupil premium; we reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being disadvantaged.

Other funding has been added to this area from the school budget in order to best support the learning for different groups of vulnerable children.

Sports Premium

At Fetcham Village Infant School, we value the welfare of our children. We promote healthy living in all areas of our school life, not just in PE lessons.

In order to achieve this, we have heavily invested in our PE provision. Details of the investment are listed below.

We provide a progressive curriculum which enables children to develop their physical literacy, as well as develop their emotional and thinking skills. Our curriculum covers the current Statutory Orders of the National Curriculum as well as taking into account individual interests and needs.

In order for the children to receive high quality lessons, where learning builds upon prior knowledge and skills, children are timetabled for 2 sessions a week. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children receive daily access to activities indoors and outdoors that build upon their fine and gross motor development as well as exciting activities.

In line with Government recommendations, all classes participate in physical activities during lessons in their classes. A running track allows teachers to promote physical health by all children completing the Daily Mile. Teachers and children also make use of the adventure playground, the climbing walls, the woodland and extensive school field. Every effort is made to promote physical and emotional wellbeing.
